The month of April reminds us of World War 1 and ANZAC Day and after the usual Q&A session on members’ projects, John Nimmo will show us a book of his Uncle Jim Nimmo’s WW1 letters home to his family as compiled by his daughter Marian. He will discuss some of Jim’s experiences in the the NZ Rifle Brigade including the liberation of the old French town of Le Quesnoy where the New Zealanders scaled the town masonry walls on ladders, surprising the German garrison and saving the town from destruction. |
